Chemical Peels
What are they?
A great way to refresh your skin is a peel. Different chemical peels have different strengths, or they affect different depths of your skin. Peels remove layers of skin and encourage new skin health. By doing this you can reduce fine lines, even out skin tone, aid in acne and scars, aid in collagen production, and overall create a more youthful appearance. There are different active ingredients in peels including retinol, lactic acid, and salicylic acid. The word acid may seem concerning as a skin care product, but when applied in the correct concentration by a professional they produce amazing skin results. Lactic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that works by exfoliating the skin’s surface. Salicylic Acid is a beta-hydroxy acid (BHA) diffuses deeper into the skin which aids in reducing bacteria, shrinking pores, and exfoliating. Both Lactic and Salicylic acid exfoliate and break down keratin, a skin protein, leaving behind softer skin. Retinol promotes cell production which also aids in exfoliating, reducing bacterial growth, reducing pores, and collagen production. Skin care is such an important part of facial aesthetics, and a peel is a great service to add to your regimen. At Steadman Aesthetics we can customize a treatment plan with peels to give optimal results. We offer multiple options through VI Peel, Skinbetter, Zo Skin Health, and Skin Medica.
